Getting Started with MLB.TheOhtani.com
Welcome. If you just landed here, this is the short version of what MLB.TheOhtani.com is and how to get the most out of it in the first two minutes.
What this app is
Mitchell’s Live scoreBug — a free, no-account baseball companion for live scores, standings, stats, and player pages. Think scoreboard energy, not a sports portal stuffed with promos.
Here’s what you’ll find:
- Schedule — today’s games with live scorebugs that update as the inning unfolds
- Standings — division and league tables for the current season
- Stats — leaderboards you can dig into without leaving the page
- Teams and Players — pages for every club and anyone you search for, with year-by-year numbers and hot/cold zones
- Spoiler prevention — hide a team’s scores until you’re ready (handy when you’re catching up later)
- Stats API playground — for the curious, a way to poke at MLB’s public stats API yourself
No sign-up. Favorites and preferences stay on your device.
First thing to do: favorite a team
Favoriting is the one setup step that makes the app feel like yours.
- Open Teams.
- Tap the star next to your team.
- Head back to the home page — their schedule calendar shows up there.
That star also:
- Pins their games to the top of the day and week schedules
- Adds a quick link in the sidebar
- Highlights favorited players in boxscores
You can favorite players and individual games the same way. Stars live in the page header or next to the name — tap once to add, tap again to remove.
Install it like an app (no App Store)
This site can sit on your home screen like a regular app. Same site, full screen, one tap away — no App Store needed.
On iPhone / iPad (Safari):
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow).
- Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add — the icon appears on your home screen.
A quick tour of the sidebar
The menu on the left (or the sidebar button on mobile) is the map:
- Schedule — day view for live games, week view for the calendar
- League — standings, stats leaders, transactions
- Browse — teams and player search
- Favorites — whatever you’ve starred, always one click away
- Spoiler Prevention — teams whose scores you want hidden
- Compare — put two players side by side
There’s also a light/dark toggle at the bottom of the sidebar.
Where to go next
- Catch today’s games on the schedule
- Pick a team on Teams and star it
- Read why this app exists if you want the longer story
